Showcasing the Beauty of Appi Lacquerware to the World
Skilled Craftsmanship
‘Appi Nuri’ Lacquerware
The Appi Lacquerware Workshop, located in Hachimantai City, Iwate Prefecture, is a traditional lacquerware craftsmanship that dates back to the feudal era. The workshop oversees all aspects, from lacquerware production to custom-made items and post-sales services. To elevate the reputation of ‘Appi Nuri Lacquerware’, a promotional website was collaboratively developed with the Hachimantai Municipal Office’s Commerce and Tourism department. The website is accessible in both English and Chinese, aiming to showcase ‘Appi Nuri’ not only within Iwate but also on a global scale. The website design prominently features the lacquerware’s exceptional quality, utilising vermilion as the primary colour. The design maintains a timeless simplicity, incorporating elements like vertical text and parallax effects. The website was created to blend the rich cultural tradition of Appi lacquerware with the demands of the modern era.

Operational Guidance and Support
In the past, they maintained a blog, but as part of the website’s renovation, we transitioned their primary social media to Facebook. This strategic move has effectively expanded the reach and recognition of ‘Appi Nuri’. To streamline product registration, we integrated the custom post function of WordPress, enabling seamless management and operation, such as formatting downloadable product lists for use during exhibitions and other events.
